Michael Whaley Interiors worked closely with our clients from the moment they started having plans drawn for this new construction waterfront shingle style home. Our goal was to create an inviting and intimate feeling even though the rooms were expansive. A sense of relaxed elegance permeates this gracious residence incorporating the cool blue and cream palette and Swedish aesthetic requested by the client. Noteworhty features designed by Michael Whaley include hand stenciled and glazed walls, exterior gas lanterns from London, back to back sofa, neoclassical painted mirror panels, custom embroidered curtains, Japanese inspired tatami room, vaulted wine cellar and tasting room.  Luxurious materials combine with classic design to offer a high level of quality and comfort.

For a young family in Connecticut, Michael Whaley transformed a stodgy Georgian manor into a comfortable family home with a modern edge. Traditional backgrounds are paired with modern art and the occasional contemporary piece to great effect. Chocolate brown lacquered walls and mirrored fretwork wainscoting combine with an acid green Anglo Indian lantern to create a stunning Dining Room that glows at night. Aqua and lime green Ikat prints cover a banquette sofa that envelopes the Family Room.  Cool soothing tones envelope the serene Master Bedroom, and a custom water jet marble mosaic accent walls adds drama to the luxurious Master Bathroom.

For a sophisticated and social couple in Westchester County, Michael Whaley Interiors created a stunning home for entertaining friends and family. Reflective surfaces including venetian plaster flecked with gold leaf, silk damask upholstered walls, lacquered ceilings, highly polished floors and walls of mercury glass mirror set the stage for festive gatherings. Luxurious fabrics cover custom designed upholstery and silk embroidered taffeta curtains envelope each room with sublime elegance. Michael Whaley curated a collection of rich and varied accessories that compliment the personalities of the homeowners and add a layered effect to the design.

A 19th century summer house on Mobile Bay was in desperate need of renovation.  Michael Whaley's long time clients asked him to help transform this dark and rambling home into a light filled beach get away for a large family.  At Michael Whaley Interiors, we listen to our client's wants and needs and create beautiful designs that exceed their expectations.  For the newly renovated historic home Michael used a soft palette of beiges and neutrals to lend a serene and peaceful atmosphere to this elegant Southern home.

For an oceanside summer house, Michael Whaley worked closely with the architect and client to renovate a 19th century Queen Anne style home to meet the needs of a family in the 21st century. After years of neglect, Whaley recreated the charm of the past by adding a sense of history and tradition. Traditonal design features imbue this home with a sense of history from generations past.

Michael Whaley Interiors transformed this non-descript Central Park West tower apartment into a glamorous aerie showcasing the stunning views while at the same time furnishing the rooms in contemporary splendor. Stunning finishes including lacquered walls and ceilings, onyx bathrooms with gold plated fixtures, silk upholstered walls, and custom millwork create a lavish background for an eclectic mix of museum quality antiques including Gustavian arm chairs and a magnificent Leleu buffet.

For a New York City client with a beach house in the Hamptons, Michael Whaley Interiors created a little oceanside glamour for very social couple who loves to entertain.  Dressy events are held in the sublime Living Room in shades of celadon, grey, cream and blue.  A bright aqua and lime green palette envelopes the bay front Family Room where a custom wool and silk rug of contemporary design adds drama to crips linens and chenilles on bench made upholstery and stylish McGuire furniture.  the navy and white Kitchen is the center of the house where more McGuire in bright white brings a "vacation" vibe to the space.  During the summer months the outdoor areas furnished in McKinnon and Harris furniture are a haven in the sun.  Venetian Plaster, painted glass walls, grass cloth and Chinoiserie wall papers make the house cozy and special.

For an upscale oceanfront condominium on the east coast of Florida Michael Whaley Interiors created an elegant and sophisticated winter home for an antique loving couple.  Jolts of bright pink, aqua and orange are everywhere bringing a sense of playfulness and relaxed elegance to otherwise formal furnishings.
